The Alan Gilbert Learning Commons, due to open at the beginning of the
2012/13 academic year, is a collaboration between partners across the
University of Manchester including the Directorate of Estates,
Directorate of Teaching and Learning, IT Services and The John Rylands
University Library; in consultation with representatives from the
Students Union.
Managed by the John Rylands University Library, the Learning Commons will be open 24/4 and feature a whole host of cutting edge technology.
There will be up to 1,000 open plan study spaces with a mixture of individual and flexible study spaces, including bookable rooms for group work.
